Punjab Dy CM calls upon girls to acquire best education

Rajinder Kaur Bhattal Deputy Chief Minister Punjab called upon the girls to acquire excellence in their subjects/vocations, so that, they could compete with their counter part at the international level, as the whole world had been shrunken into a small village with the fast development of Computer based technology.

Bhattal was addressing the students on the Zonal Youth and Heritage Festival SDP College for Women here Monday.

Bhattal said with the advancement in internet and satellite facilities, the whole world had shrunken into small village and the professionally qualified students have unlimited scope for employment in the different countries. The Deputy CM said that the state Govt. has chalked out a plan to facilitate the collaboration of the Universities in Punjab with the Universities of developed countries for the admission in various vocations and higher studies for our excellent students, so that they could avail the enormous employment opportunities created with the latest advancement in the modern technologies.

She said that with the improvement in the level of the education in India, the Universalities of developed countries were offering liberal opportunities to the Indian students for higher education, as. Excellent performance of our talented youth was performing their responsibilities with full commitment and dedication.

Referring to the fast changing social and economic scenario, Mrs. Bhattal said that the government was committed for women empowerment and for the effective participation of the women in all fields, for this vocational education for the women was an important pre requisite. Expressing her serious concern over the decline in the sex ratio in the society, Mrs. Bhattal said that though the level of education among the women was improving with fast speed, still by enlarge the women were also becoming party in encouraging female feticide, which was creating an imbalance in the society. She said that in the present time, the women are performing better than their counterparts in shouldering their responsibilities, but still they have to go a long way in establishing a respectful and dominating place in the society, so that no body could dare to think of killing a girl child before the birth.

Referring to the important role being played by privately managed Educational Institutions, Mrs. Bhattal said that these institutions had played a pioneer role in spreading education particularly women education since independence, which had helped in improving social and financial environment in the country. Mrs. Bhattal appreciating the conduct of such youth festivals said that these help in sharpening their all round personalities and enhance the level self confidence among the students. She exhorted the students to accord special attention on the extracurricular activities. Mrs. Bhattal distributed prizes to the winners of third day’s competitions.
