Administration has constituted the Chandigarh Tourism Advisory Forum under the chairmanship of renowned Bollywood director Yash Chopra to promote Chandigarh as a tourist destination.
This forum would advise specifically with a view to promote Chandigarh as a destination for film making, medical tourism, adventure tourism, heritage tourism, etc. This forum would also advice on how to increase employment potential and to boost the economy through various initiatives in tourism.
The advisory forum would include film actor Raj Babbar, Anupam Kher, Kamal Tewari, Dr Rani Balbir Kaur, Neelam Mann Singh, Jaspal Bhatti, Shastri Ramachandran, Dr Pramod Kumar, Dr R. Kumar, Dr S.P.S. Grewal, Prof Rajnish Wattas and Prof Kiran Joshi of Chandigarh College of Architecture and Managing Director (CITCO) Jasbir Singh Bir.
Director, Tourism, Vivek Atray would be its Member Secretary.
The advisory forum would also advise on the constitution of the Film City component of the Multimedia-cum-Film City, which is planned to be set up at Sarangpur, and to advise on the possibility of the setting up of a school of acting, film making, TV serial making, etc. The meetings of the forum would be held once in six months.
