Burglars decamped with jewellery and cash worth Rs 8 lakh from a Sector 7 house, tonight.
The owner of the house, Meenu Goyal discovered the burglary at 7.30 pm, when she returned from her parents house. According to Meenu, when she returned home, she saw two briefcases outside her house on the first-floor and heard voices of people coming from inside the house. She tried to open the door of the house, but it was locked from inside, following which she raised an alarm and informed her uncle, Anand Kishore about the incident. Her husband, Parveen Goyal, a trader in Baddi, was also informed.
When they entered the house, they found it ransacked. Meanwhile, the burglars fled from the back door of the house. The burglars left behind the two briefcases, that contained silver items and clothes.
Meenu’s uncle, Bal Krishan Bansal, Director of Delhi Public School Chandigarh, said “The burglars took away Rs 35,000 worth of gold and diamond jewelry worth Rs eight lakh from the house.They also stole mobile sets and other electronic goods.”
The police were informed about the incident. Till the filing of this report, the Crime Scene investigation team had not reached the crime spot. However, SHO of Sector 5 police station inspector Zile Singh had reached the spot.
