Residents of Mohali are grappling with monkey menace. A group of monkeys attacked an official of the Horticulture Department of Public Works Department (PWD), Gyan Chand. The incident happened when the official was taking his morning walk in the main park of Phase-I.
“There were not many people in the park when some six to seven monkeys came close to me. When I souted for help, one of the monkeys jumped at me and scratched my shoulder and back. They ran away when I raised an alarm,†said Gyan Chand.
Chand was administered injections at Civil Hospital Phase-VI and referred to the anti-rabies clinic in Chandigarh where he was given three injections. The injections will continue for a fortnight, said Chand.
This is not the first case of monkey bite in recent timesin Mohali. A few days ago, the child of a Municipal Councilor Gurmukh Singh Sohal was attacked by a monkey in the Phase-IV park. The four-year-old was playing with other children in the park.
