Government agencies and private millers have procured more than 87 lakh tonnes of paddy in the state till Monday, an official spokesperson said.
Out of total procurement of 87,15,936 tonnes of the grain, government agencies bought 69,73,045 tonnes whereas millers lifted 17,42,891 tonnes of paddy.
PUNGRAIN collected 17,26,222 tonnes whereas MARKFED procured 16,55,936 tonnes, PUNSUP received 17,88,863 tonnes, PSWC procured 9,56,157 tonnes and PAIC gathered 7,68,898 tonnes of paddy. The central government agency FCI bought 77,069 tonnes.
Ferozepur, with 11,10,772 tonnes, was leading the procurement operations, followed by Ludhiana with 10,45,342 tonnes and Patiala with 8,69,985 tonnes, the spokesperson said.
