Riding on twin strikes by CS Sabeeth, Tamil Nadu today notched up a 2-0 victory over Chandigarh in their cluster I match of the 62nd Santosh Trophy football tournament here.
Tamil Nadu veteran player Sabeeth left the Chandigarh defenders clueless and pumped in one goal each on either side of the breather at the Maulana Azad Ground.
Though started the game in a defensive mode, Tamil Nadu started attacking later and Sabeeth opened their account in the 37th minute with a powerful shot.
He netted his team’s second goal in the 68th minute to give his side the cushion.
Chandigarh, visibly playing under pressure, displayed a sloppy performance and failed to capitalise on several scoring opportunities.
