Rich tributes were paid to former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, ahead of his 12th death anniversary which falls tomorrow. To remember his sacrifice in bringing peace to Punjab during the trouble-torn days of terrorism in the state, a function was organised in the Chhoti Baradari here today, where Patiala Member of Parliament Preneet Kaur paid rich tributes.
Many local leaders, including the MP also garlanded Beant Singh’s statue on the occasion. Preneet Kaur, while speaking on the occasion stated that Beant Singh faught terrorism till his end and helped the state to come out of the dark days of terrorism. A large number of people from all walks paid their tributes.
Among those present on the occasion included District Congress president Prem Kishan Puri, mayor Vishnu Sharma, PRTC chairman Ved Parkash Gupta, Chairman of Improvement Trust K.K. Sharma, Sanjiv Garg, vice chairman Punjab Agro, Narinderjit Singh, vice chairman of PRTC eputy mayor Inderjit Singh Boparai and former president Municipal Committee Niranjan Dass, besides a large number of Congress leaders and workers were also present.
