Gurcharan Singh Gamma, brother-in-law of senior vice-president SAD-(Amritsar), Daljit Singh Bittu, was picked up by a team of the Central Bureau of Investigation from his village, Rattan, 12 km from Ludhiana, this afternoon.
Gamma had spent about 12 years in jail under legislative powers such as TADA, and was released recently. He was the organising secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal-(Amritsar).
According to Mr Major Singh, a spokesperson of the party, Gamma was picked up at about 1 pm. He stated there was no pending case against Gamma.
He said the SAD-(Amritsar) and Sikh community strongly criticises the CBI move.
